How to Make Paper Tube Firecracker Decorations
Kids love to create decorations that help celebrate the holidays. There are so many ways to celebrate our patriotic days. Lots of times our decorations for celebrations and parties start with food. This darling paper tube firecracker craft makes great decorations to put in a tub of popcorn but would also be great in a plant pot. They are simple to make and fun to decorate for kids, kids of all ages!
You will need the following supplies.
- Paper Tube Rolls
- OOLY Chunkies Paint Sticks
- Paper (Red and Blue)
- Scissors
- White Card Stock and a Circle Pattern (Lid to a Can of Nuts)
- Glue (Hot glue works the best but requires an adult.)
- Wooden Dowels Rods or Skewers
Paint the paper tubes with the
Chunkies Paint Sticks. These works great for little hands with grand ideas. Easy to hold barrels and the paint dries quickly so no smudging! Don't forget to add some sparkle and shine with the metallic paint sticks.
Trace two circles using your lid onto white card stock. Then cut the circles out.
Next use the Chunkies Paint Sticks to paint the circles red and blue.
Making the Top Piece
Cut into the circle from the edge to the center so that you can create a cone shape. Use glue to hold the shape. This will be the top of your firecracker decoration.
Next cut out two triangles about 3 inches wide and 3 inches tall. Cut off the top point. Then cut from the bottom to create fringe. Fold the top like an accordion to get it to fan a little.
Glue the pieces together
Glue the dowel rod inside the tube. Next the paper fringe goes inside the tube over the dowel rod. The cone shaped top goes on the other end of the tube. For this step, if you are using hot glue, be sure a grown up is helping.
