Hand Painted DIY Holiday Gift Bags
Kids love getting involved with gift giving during the holiday season. These DIY holiday gift bags are super fun to make and they darling for sharing with the family. It is like a two for one project! You can use pretty much any bags including kraft colored lunch bags that come in packs of 25 or 50 at the grocery store! I used left-over supplies from the
DIY advent calendar project. The cost of this project makes it a fabulous one to do with a group of kids either in a classroom or in a club. I have done it with my students and with my girl scout troop.
You will need the following supplies.
Begin By Painting
We started by painting stripes with red paint on the bags and tags.
Add green, light green and red stripes going in different direction to create a beautiful holiday plaid. Or, add a design of your choice, the kids may have their own ideas too!
Finger Print Reindeers & Snowmen
The kids will love this next part of the process, you can use your finger prints to "paint" snowmen and reindeer. Because the poster paints are washable, use your thumb to make smudgy spots. Or use the paint brushes if desired. Once the paint is dry, you will add details with brushes, other colors of paint and markers to make the characters come alive..
When the paint is completely dry, use a marker to add details that may not have been painted on previously.
Have the kids put their gifts in the bags for easy giving. After folding the bag over, use a hole puncher to put a hole in the top of the bag, then tie the tags on with ribbon. Ta Da!
